Guns Rights
Whether or not guns should be allowed to be carried by students into school or college campus is a contentious issue. Though some people haves opinion that students should be permitted to carry guns along with them in schools and colleges so that they can defend themselves from the sudden attacks by intruders and resist attempts of sexual or physical abuse, it should be admitted that such acceptance or permission can only give rise to more complications and violence among the school-goers or college-goers.
The proponents of allowing guns in colleges and schools argue that adhering to the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America each and every American should be allowed to keep arms for the reason of self-defense (“SECOND AMENDMENT”, n.d.). The right to self-defense is one of the fundamental rights and as this is so, college or school students should be allowed to carry gun for their self-defense. The rise in the number of shooting crimes committed by mentally unstable youths and adults is enough to justify the point that for protecting themselves from the attacks of perverts, students should be allowed to carry guns while in the school or college campus.
But such an argument should not be entertained as it is malicious. School students or college students should never be permitted to carry guns as they are not mature enough to understand when and how to use a gun properly for self-defense. If they are allowed to carry guns then it will generate a risk as because of being immature these students may use guns to establish their supremacy on other classmates and in the course of doing so they may use guns to achieve wrong ends. Moreover, it should be understood that the Second Amendment has upheld the right to self-defense but not at the cost of jeopardizing the lives of others at gunpoint. Besides, if students are allowed to carry guns then ultimately the country will turn into an uncivilized one where might will become the right and the possessor of a gun will decide what marks the professor should allot to a particular student or how a classmate is going to act within the class. It should be always remembered that immature brains are not perfect masters of the committed actions and hence, allowing the immature students to carry gun will only instigate the rise in the number of more and more gun shootouts within schools and colleges.
In conclusion, guns should not be allowed to be carried within schools and colleges.
Research Paper
You will revise and expand your Analysis 3.1 position paper. To help you revise, be sure to use your
instructor’s feedback on the position paper. To help you expand your paper, use the additional research you
have done in past weeks to support your view. Be sure to address the opposing point of view as you expand
your paper.
To complete this draft: · Add new research findings to the original position paper. You must use at least five sources in this
paper. · Include an introduction with a clear thesis that states your position on the issue, body paragraphs
that support your stance with examples, and explanations drawn from research and your own
reasoning. Include one or two paragraphs that summarize competing perspectives and opposition
on the issue and a clear conclusion that sums up your points and offers final thoughts for the
reader. · Include APA formatted in-text citations in the paper paragraphs that link to sources listed on the
References page.
Submission Requirements for the Draft Research Paper: · Submit your responses in a Microsoft Word document of the following specifications: o Font: Arial; 12-Point o Line Spacing: Double o Length: 5–6 pages · Include an APA title page on page one of the paper. Refer to the sample APA title page given in the
handout titled “APA Title Page Format” at the end of the study guide. · Be sure to meet five-source requirements, although you may go over this if you would like.
PowerPoint Presentation
Create a PowerPoint presentation (PPT) with speaker notes. In this presentation, you will present your
research paper as a PPT.
Your PPT must:

· Contain a minimum of 10 slides (maximum 15 slides). · Introduce the issue, state a position, explore and refute opposing arguments, and present
conclusions and other research findings. · Have a balanced combination of both text and images throughout the PPT presentation. You can
use segments of your research paper directly in your PPT presentation. However, be sure to edit
and revise your writing to be appropriate for a PPT presentation. · In addition to including text on the slides, all 10 slides should also include two to three sentences of
speaker notes in the “Notes” area of each slide. These notes should be written up as a script you
would follow if you were presenting this material to the class in an oral presentation. · Ensure that the final PPT is a polished version and meets all the following requirements: · Present your research paper and position on the topic of your project in PPT format. · Include at least 10 slides, which should include one title slide and one References list slide. · Use the speaker notes area to give a written version of an “oral presentation” of the topic, exactly
as you would as if you were speaking to a group of people about this topic. · Use images and text to convey your points and arguments. · Include the references that you have used to support your points. Include a References side and
also use in-text citations on the slides where you have pulled quotes from sources.
Submission Requirements for Draft Presentation: · Your PPT must have at least 10 slides, but it can have more. · Follow APA formatting with the first slide serving as the title slide and the last slide or two serving as
the References page(s).
Evaluation Criteria: The Research rubric will be used to evaluate this assessment.
