Written assignment 1: article ii of the uniform commercial code
Assume you are in a study group that has decided to prepare a comprehensive study guide for Contracts class. Each member of the group is assigned one topic and must write one page about each topic. All the contributions will eventually be included in the main study guide. Your assignment is to write a one page overview of Article 2 of the UCC, including a general explanation of when it applies and a description of at least three specific sections of Article 2 (e.g., 2-204, 2-205, and 2-206). You should also conduct research and provide a court opinion that interprets at least one of the sections. Your discussion should include the relevant facts of the case and how the section applies to that case.
The study group has decided to develop paragraphs using complete sentences and not to submit a series of list or bullet points.
In addition to fulfilling the specifics of the assignment, a successful assignment must also meet the following criteria:
Submit your response to the Dropbox by the end of Unit 9.
Written Assignment 2: Using Mathematical Reasoning to Determine Damages
Assume you are still in a study group that has decided to prepare a comprehensive study guide for Contracts class. You receive an e-mail from a friend in the group explaining that she is in the hospital and that the group needs you to take on one more topic before the deadline. Since you have made a commitment to this project, you agree to write an additional page about how to use mathematical reasoning to determine damages in a contract case.
You agree to provide a hypothetical case in order to explain how compensatory and related damages are calculated. You can either use a formula provided by your instructor, or other source, or the general mathematical concept that is intended to make the plaintiff whole by comparing the difference between the results to the plaintiff if the contract had been performed with the result that occurred because of the breach. Do not use the formula provided in the ebook – it does not work. Your hypothetical case and calculations should include specific values of the contract, expenses, losses, and/or lost profits, and mitigation (if appropriate) in order to determine the specific damages that should be awarded to the plaintiff. Yes, you need to do some math here! Please focus on the numbers and the mathematical reasoning rather than the details of the hypothetical case.
In addition to fulfilling the specifics of the assignment, a successful assignment must also meet the following criteria:
- Length should be one page, excluding cover page and reference page
- Viewpoint and purposeshould be clearly establishedand sustained
- Assignment should follow the conventions of Standard American English (correct grammar, punctuation, etc.)
- Writingshould be well ordered , logical and unified , as well as original and insightful
