In looking at these early theorists, we tend to look at the past and begin to consider whether or not these ideas continue to work for society today.  Let’s take these ideas a bit further and consider the future as well.  First, imagine that it is now the year 2039, what is happening in your life?  You may choose to think about this realistically or be as creative as you would like.  Discuss your career, personal life, leisure activities, etc.  Then begin to consider this time frame from a theoretical perspective.

In your opinion, what do you think will be happening in twenty years?   You will also want to answer the following sociological questions in your paper regarding 2039: What defines class?  Explain the differences in class status, are they similar to today?  Who controls the means of production? What are the important resources in your scenario?  Who is in power, why?  Is there a ruling class, why or why not?  Who has rational, traditional, and charismatic authority?  Is alienation a concern, why or why not? Does crime occur? Additional ideas from the readings can be added as well.  Be sure to define and explain the terms that you use in this assignment.  At least three outside sociological academic sources should be used when discussing these concepts (peer – reviewed journal articles are preferred).  You may also use your book (it does not count as an outside academic source).  Be sure to cite, in APA format, any sources that are used.  The paper should be typed and double spaced with no smaller than 12 font.  A title page including your name, date, assignment title, and course title is required.  Papers with no title page will receive a 10% deduction.  I am more concerned with content than with number of pages.  However, for those of you that need number of pages, these tend to be 6-9 pages in length.   Let me know if you have any questions.
