Statistical Inference Assignment | Homework Help Websites
Week 1: In class this week we’ve learned some basic statistical vocabulary, and worked on a “big picture” of the course. For this week’s assignment, get a “big picture” of your data.
*Open your data (in Excel or Statgraphics) and answer the following questions in complete sentences:
1) What is this data “all about”?
2) How many rows and columns? What does each row represent? What can you tell about the data from the column headers?
3) Is this data quantitative, qualitative, or both? Why?
4) Comment about the average and spread of one of the columns. In Excel, use “=average()”and “=stdev.s()”; or in Statgraphics, use “Describe” commands. Summarize in a clear and complete English sentence something this column tells us. If you have difficulties with using Excel, please watch Andy Olstad’s “Excel Tips” video in this week’s required lecture videos.
Deliverable: Upload your answers to (1) – (4) above.
Rubric: Total 10 points: 2 points each for (1) – (3) and 4 points for (4) for answering the questions correctly, clearly and succinctly. Partial points for partial answers.
