Single Parenting Discussion Assignment | Homework Help Websites
ISSUE/PROBLEM: Single Parent Families
TARGET POPULATION:
African American Women that are Single Parents
WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT: Since family is the basic structure that grows out to be a community, the issue is relevant because the two depend on each other for survival. It is not possible to have a successful community if the families in it are broken and this creates a major reason why it should be avoided (Kloos, et al., 2012). While looking at the community psychology, we are able to understand the basic individualistic contexts of a family within a community and to the wider society and how the relationship between the two is important. It is also a very realist issue for me since I have grown up in a broken family household hence I understand the pain of living at such a condition.
Ecological Factors of Bronfenbrenner’s:
Microsystem: The family being broken apart and how it affects the child’s development. elaborate
Exosystem: Single parent always at work leads to less interaction with the child at home, maybe less involvement with school work for example.
Macrosystem: This system describes the culture in which the individual lives in. Looking at the socioeconomic status you can see that The single black parent not having a good enough well paying job and how it will affect the child at home, struggling to make rent, pay bills and provide basic needs for the child. Poverty is an issue. Not being able to send the child to good schooling is an issue too that will affect their development. And also the attitudes and identity that the child will grow up

Paper #1: Ecological analysis of social problem/issue
In this paper, you will provide an ecological analysis of the social problem/issue you selected earlier this quarter. You will describe the problem and the population of interest and then discuss three ecological factors that play a role in causing the social or psychological problem/issue. The 3 ecological factors should be outside of the individual level of Bronfenbrenner’s model and the factors should play a role in causing (or is related to or predicts) the social/psychological problem.
Sections Needed in the Paper
Title Page
Introduction
In your introduction, explain what the topic of the paper is and why this is the topic you have chosen. Explain why this topic is relevant to community psychology. For example, you might write a paper on the ecological factors that are related to HIV infection among women of color. You may want to address in the introduction why you have focused on this group (and not on men, or a broader ethnic and racial mix of people). Clearly state the purpose of the paper.
Problem Review
Provide some detail about the issue or problem that your paper addresses. Why is it important? Provide statistics about the extent to which this problem/issue exists in your population of interest. Provide any relevant contextual information to help the reader understand the problem/issue. What is the impact of this problem on the target population?
Ecological analysis of the Problem/Issue
In this section, you will synthesize the research literature to describe how each of the three ecological factors are related the problem/issue. Clearly describe the ecological level and the specific factors that are of focus in this paper (e.g., in the microsystem – communication about safe sex practices). Then discuss how each of the ecological factors contributes to the development of the issue/problem. When describing the research in this section, make sure you describe the sample characteristics with which this research has been conducted. Hopefully, the research has been done with your population of interest. If not, then you will need to infer how the research findings apply to your population.
Discussion and Conclusions
Based on what you discussed in the previous section, what are the limitations of the research about the ecological factors that you described and the problem/issue. What are the gaps? What don’t we know yet? Provide recommendations for future research on this issue and for interventions to address the problem/issue.
References & APA Style
The paper must be written in APA format. The reference section should include at least 5 references, 3 of which should be peer reviewed journal articles.
Be sure to use APA style to identify references. APA style is required! An excellent resource for APA style can be found at: http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/01/
The paper must be 4-5 pages in length (not including the title page and reference section) and should be double-spaced and typed. Please use 12-point font and 1-inch margins on all sides.
