The Legal statute which applies to Anne’s case is discrimination at workplace based on sex and sexist comments of Committee. This is a violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The issue here is that the all-male Partnership Review Committee gender stereotyped Anne. They believe that she should be more feminine. In Harper v. Blockbuster Entertainment Corporation, a male employee sued because he was not allowed to have long hair (Bennett-Alexander & Hartman, 2019). Anne’s case is similar, because she was not promoted because she was not “feminine” enough. Anne’s performance has been nothing but excellent and the reason she was denied was because she needed to wear makeup, jewelry and act more feminine.

The Accounting Firm could prevent this liability by ensuring that there is proper representation of all sexes and races to prevent discrimination. The Accounting Firm should give training to all employees on how to recognize discrimination and what to do when they see it or feel like they were discriminated against. In this training, they should describe the consequences of discrimination and the impact it has on the company.
