Primary Research Instruments
Overview:
During the report project, project teams will be responsible for conducting primary research. To facilitate this work, project teams are responsible for creating two primary research instruments (1 per team member), i.e. surveys, interview questionnaires, polls, observation maps, etc. Please note that project teams have the option to create more primary research instruments should they determine it necessary to further their work.
There are multiple types of primary research you may conduct. If you are having difficulty deciding on a method, please consult Chapter 14 of your textbook (here you can find ideas about possible approaches/methods for primary research).
Assessment
You will not turn in the results of your primary research; you are turning in the document used for collecting data. For example, if you are conducting an interview, you will turn in the interview questions. If you are conducting surveys, you will turn in the survey questions. Regardless of your method, you will NOT turn in the results. You will include your results in the final report. The primary research methods you submit for this part of the assignment will be included in your final report in the form of appendices.
The primary research instruments will be assessed using the following criteria:
- Design (contrast, repetition, alignment, proximity) where applicable
- Appropriateness for context of delivery
- Variety of instruments
- Clarity of questions/plan/answers
- Breadth of potential data collected
My role is to do the meeting observation. We chose an international club in my school that we are doing a research on, but they donβt do too much. This one is only a draft not a final copy.
