Public Relations
As the authors of your course text discuss in Chapter 14, directors of child development centers must be concerned not only with attracting customers in the short-term, but also with fulfilling the role of corporate citizen in the long-term. This means that the child development center should be viewed by the public as an important asset to the community. Given the many immediate responsibilities of directors, however, planning and executing a public relations strategy may seem daunting. In this Discussion, you will consider how you might approach public relations as a child development center director. Reflect on the following:
- How much importance would you attach to public relations efforts? Would it be a priority for you? Why or why not?
- How would you approach public relations? Would you use formal strategies and/or hire specific individuals to carry out these strategies? Or would you integrate public relations into other parts of your business activities? How so?

By Day 3 of Week 9:
Post an explanation of where public relations would fall on your list of priorities as a child development center director, and why. Then, identify and explain at least two specific strategies or methods you might use in your approach to public relations for your business, including why you think each would be successful.
By Day 7 of Week 10:
Read a selection of your colleagues’ postings.
Respond to at least two colleagues who have presented a different or opposing view from your own. Does their viewpoint change your perspective? Or do you disagree? Explain your thoughts and reactions.
