Requirements:
- You will choose one of the assigned readings from Module 2 that presents a topic that resonates with you.
- You will identify what you think the writer’s main idea is, and you will agree/disagree with it; explain why and support your perspective (that is, your thesis) with at least one example from the textand with at least three secondary sources from your research.
- You will begin your essay with an introductory paragraph that informs the reader of the reading selection, the writer, the topic of the selection, and your thesis.
- You will write at least three supporting paragraphs that emphasize the historical/cultural principles we have been studying in this module. Each supporting paragraph will include a reference to the reading selection and a reference to a secondary source that supports or disagrees with the reading selection and then adds your insight on what this means. (in other words, how does this example support your point of view (aka your thesis).
- You will insert an object that represents the ideas of your analysis.
- In each paragraph, you will cite specific examples and document them according to MLA guidelines.
- You will write a concluding paragraph that reinforces your thesis and either summarizes your supporting paragraphs or comments on the influence of historical/cultural contexts on the topic.
- You will include a Work Cited page that references the primary reading and the sources that you researched to support your ideas. The Work Cited page will follow MLA guidelines.
- Of course, you will edit the final draft for clear language, and adherence to English grammar, punctuation, and mechanics.
- Your final submission will follow MLA guidelines for manuscript submission (e.g. heading, title, spacing, font, etc.)
