Favorite Vacation Assignment | Homework for You

The first formal writing assignment is a descriptive essay. You can choose one of two options:

my favorite vacation destination

my favorite holiday

The first paragraph should start with the thesis statement (main idea). The second sentence should be a statement explaining your first reason. The third sentence should be your second reason. The fourth sentence should be your third reason. The fifth sentence should be a concluding sentence for the paragraph. I am going to give you an example with just the basic wording. You can make your sentences longer than my sample.

Paragraph 1

Sentence 1 My favorite vacation spot is Destin, Florida. Sentence 2 I love to walk on the white sand beaches and listen to the waves crashing on the shore. Sentence 3 My favorite activity is eating at one of the many available fresh seafood restaurants. Sentence 4 In addition to the beach activities, I enjoy being with my family while we ride amusement park rides and play miniature golf. Sentence 5 All of these activities help to create a dream vacation in Destin, Florida.

Outline of Paragraph 2

Sentence 1 (This paragraph should explain Sentence 2 in your 1st paragraph. My family and I enjoy daily and nightly walks on the beach. The next three sentences should be about this topic. Fifth sentence should be a wrap-up of your paragraph.

Outline of Paragraph 3

Sentence 1 (This paragraph should explain Sentence 3 in your 1st paragraph). Although the beach is the main attraction in Destin, I look forward to sampling some of the seafood prepared in my favorite restaurants. The rest of the paragraph (three more sentences) should explain this sentence – ex – giving specific examples. Your last sentence (5th sentence) should be a wrap-up of the paragraph.

Outline of Paragraph 4

Sentence 1 (This paragraph should be about sentence 4 in your 1st paragraph). While I do enjoy the relaxation afforded to everyone at the beach, I also enjoy a few of the physical activities. Explain this in detail in the next three sentences. Fifth sentence is a wrap-up.

Sentence 1 (Reword your 1st sentence from Paragraph 1)All of these reasons combine to make a trip to Destin, Florida my favorite all-around vacation site. Sentence 2 (Reword 2nd sentence of Paragraph 1).While many people spend most of their time enjoying the warmth of the sun, I also love to take nightly walks so that I can enjoy crabbing with the kids and see the moonlight sparkling off of the waves. Sentence 3 (Reword Sentence 3 in 1st paragraph). A trip to the beach is no time to diet, so I make certain that I visit each of my favorite restaurants. Sentence 4 (Reword 4th sentence from Paragraph 1) A trip to the beach is also not a time to stay inside, even at night, so I always try to carry the kids to their favorite parks. Sentence 5 (Reword 5th sentence of Paragraph 1) By combining all of these activities, I find that Destin, Florida is my favorite all-around vacation site.
