Edu 642 week 6 assignment
Week 6 – Final Project
ELL Interview
For the final assignment, you will record an interview with an ELL student, ELL parent, or ELL teacher. Use an internet-based recording program, such as YouTube, YouTube Video Editor, or Audacity to record your interview. If you are unable to record an interview due to individual circumstances, as an alternative you may view the following video: From an ELL Student to an ELL Educator (8:49). If you record an interview, please be sure to include an interview transcript and a link to the recorded interview.
Create a set of five to ten open-ended interview questions based on the content and learning objectives of this course and centered on two primary themes:
- What is challenging about learning English?, and
- What would help students to better learn English?
In your assignment, be sure to include information from at least five scholarly sources in addition to the text.
In your assignment, address the following:
- Describe your interview subject.
- Summarize the interview (include the interview questions in an appendix).
- Discuss the implications for teachers in meeting the challenges in learning English as described by the interview subject.
- Describe potential classroom teaching approaches to addressing these implications.
You have two options for presenting your findings:
Option One: Presentation
Create a five- to eight-minute professional development presentation for your future faculty colleagues in which you present the interview information in an audio-visual format.
Use one of the following web-based tools to create your presentation:
- Audacity
- Jing
- Total Recorder
- Parallels Desktop for Mac
- Oracle VirtualBox
- Koyote
- Video Capture Software
- YouTube
- YouTube Video Editor
Your presentation should incorporate audio/visual tools to help you convey your ideas. Remember to also include a transcript of your completed video. Then, include a link to the presentation and a link to the recorded interview on a MS Word document before you upload your assignment for submission.
Option Two: Paper
Conduct the interview and then write an eight- to ten-page paper, not including the title and reference page. The paper will formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center. Include a link to the recorded interview before you upload your assignment for submission.
Carefully review the Grading Rubric for the criteria that will be used to evaluate your assignment.
