You are a middle school social studies teacher with several ELL students whose first language is Russian. You want to work with one of the school’s ELL teachers to provide a plan to help your Russian-speaking students improve their English skills. She suggests that an error analysis is a good place to begin.
Using the six-step analysis plan found in Section 4.4 of your text as a starting place, create your own plan to incorporate research-based practices to reduce language error. Be sure to include at least two research-based citations to help enhance your plan.

Using information from Chapter 6 of your text, the video, and your own experiences (as applicable), evaluate the role of previously known languages in the use of these techniques. You will develop a research-based classroom activity that addresses the role of native language in second language acquisition as well as assesses the role of the transition period. You must include at least two scholarly references and at least one multimedia source in creating your classroom activity.
Include the following in your activity:
- Identify the target audience and research-based classroom activity. Explain how the activity addresses the role of native language in second language acquisition as well as assesses the role of the transition period.
- Analyze native language characteristics and the role of the transition period.
- Describe the activity in including pre-teaching and formative assessment.
The paper should be two to three pages, not including the title and reference page, and formatted according the APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center. Use at least two scholarly references and one multi-media source.
