Discussion Forum on Stereotypes | Online Assignment Help
Two part assignment:
1. PART 1 Your Post. Note: You must post something following these instructions before you can see other students posts. Click on your discussion group in the MO2 Forum. Select “start a new thread” and post your answers to the questions below. Be sure you answer ALL of the questions. Due by 11:59pm Thursday September 27. Discuss in 5 or more sentences: have you ever been the subject of a stereotype? Describe this experience, using a specific incident: what was the stereotype? what do you think was the basis of the stereotype (your nationality, hair color, regional background, etc.)? What do you think is the source of this stereotype (mass media, historical forces, demographic characteristics of the group, cultural misunderstanding, etc.)? Did it impact how you were treated? What if anything did you do to counter this stereotype? How significant is this stereotype in your life (e.g. stereotyping about being in a sorority may end once you graduate vs ethnic stereotyping which may last a lifetime)? Can you think of other stereotypes that might affect other individuals in more negative ways? 2. PART 2 Your Reply. Due by 11:59pm Friday September 28. Discuss in 5 or more sentences: Find another student’s post that differs from yours, and write a reply to them explaining how the SOURCE and any other aspects of that student’s stereotype differs from yours, and what if any aspects are similar. Try to mention any relevant module materials/concepts that may apply to the stereotype that student is writing about. 3. Grading criteria: o You get 0 points if your number of posts and replies is zero, or if your posts and replies are not substantive enough. Substantive means: you answer the questions above with enough details. o You get 8-15 points: if you post a substantive post but do not post a substantive reply to somebody else’s post; your post and reply are there but not substantive enough; or if you post a good reply to somebody else’s post but do not post your own post on time or vice versa. o You get the full 25 points if you post a substantive post AND post a substantive reply to somebody else’s post o Remember: it is your responsibility to make sure your post is up and appears on the forum and that your reply is posted on the correct thread.
