When we speak on inductive versus deductive reasoning it is a lot different. The conclusions arrived at using (correct) deductive logic are necessarily true, meaning they must be true. The conclusions arrived at using inductive logic, are not necessarily true, although they may be. (Murr, 2019) Inductive reasoning is the fact that conclusion may not be 100% guaranteed but it’s an assumption. Starting off with a small observation and/or question. Thinking things could be one way because it seems like it, using the same patterns and conclusion to determine things. It using conclusions based on the patterns that is shown. On the assignment for week two we were told to apply the concepts of each (inductive and deductive reasoning) to the following unsolved crime scene. One of the crime scenes I would use the inductive reasoning is in the community there are young adults struggling to get by in life, which could seem to be the reason why they would cause a murder to take the possessions of the people who is wealthier than they are. In an investigation about the crime it’s what is proved. Deductive and inductive methods are required for crime scene investigation and are complementary. Inductive criminal investigation, according to Turvy, is the analysis of implementation of criminal behavior, crime scenes and victims … and emotions that cause by other criminals, the crime scene and/or the victim. (Mariia Rubtcova, 2017) Inductive reasoning is there where people in the community that night of the murder but it not strong facts to place them there completely. Inductive there are teenagers in the area and the game system, trading cards, and video games are missing which most teenagers love.
Deductive reasoning is different. Deductive reasoning is facts. Something that is more likely true and making connection to the crime scene. In this case assumption which was the men seen in the are at the time of the murder. Bloody shoe prints lead out the door and disappear in the dirt outside the back of the trailer, now there is deductive reasoning. Investigators also learned that three teenage males were observed peeking in one of the trailer’s windows. Deductive process, which starts with assumptions about behavior, inductive profiling relies on data gathered from the crime scenes, police reports, psychological evaluations, method examiners’ reports and victimology reports to be empirically analyzed and subsequently to support a theory.
