Marvin is quiet comfortable on his company’s strategies to bid a project. He always follows a specific structure to get more profits with the resources he has. He follows a break down structure for a project before he release RFP to the client. IF we provide the request for proposal with the work packages it is always easy for the client to understand how much time they invest on each work package and how they can integrate every package in to the project in a timely manner.
What other factors should Marvin and his team consider?
Marvin should consider the resources and time they are going to spend on the project If they have specialized resources for that project to be done and to satisfy client’s requirements that would be a huge advantage for them. If they have the specialized resources who can invest their knowledge in a different packages then they can finish the project on time. If they go with the break down structure then they can allot different resources to different modules and everything will be done simultaneously.
They have to consider the terms and conditions of the client once they signed the project. If any misunderstanding or miscommunication happens between the client and them, they have to pay more money to the client according to the terms and conditions before they take the project. SO they have to keep in mind about terms and conditions of the client.
They also have to consider whether they are going to bid with existing client or new client. If it is the existing client they already know how they are going to deal with them and client also knows how Marin and his team can finish their projects on time. If it is a new client , they have to deal with team carefully to get more projects and contracts in future.
They have to consider the scope of the project. If the scope of the project is poorly defined then they have to think whether they have to hold on the client or not. If it is ongoing project , they will get more profits . Because once development is done, project will be live for so many years.
They have to consider whether their business meets the clients requirements or not. Different clients have different business. If Marvin and his team has some kind of business, they can have the resources related to specific filed, if they can maintain the project with the resources they already have they no need to hire new resources so it will be less cost effective hence they can gain more profits.
2. Should they bid on the job?
Yes, They should bid on the job because every opportunity gives the experience to them on how they can proceed with the future biddings. Though they have to be very selective on the clients still they can bid and they can try their luck if they get the project for less cost. If it is a 10 year project they can have more profits and in that ten years they can get other contracts with the same clients or sister company clients, this will lead to their development of the company. They can be the strategic partner to the client so the client preference will go to the marvin’s team whenever the client want to deal with new projects.
They have to show their interest to the client how much they are interested in working with the client like them. So they should bid the job.
