Guided Response: Navigate through several of your classmate’s selected schools or programs that the Instructor provided and respond to at least two peers, paying close attention to the particular school or program they featured in their initial discussion post. Review the analysis of the decisions and cultural influences discussed and indicate how you agree or disagree with their analysis. As with previous discussions, though two replies is the basic expectation, for deeper engagement and learning, you are encouraged to provide responses to any comments or questions others have given to you. This will further the conversation and provide you with opportunities to demonstrate your content expertise, critical thinking, and real world experiences with this topic.
I decided to select Megan Martin and Karen Crowe for this discussion. Both power point presentations were exceptional and I thought both ladies did a very nice job.
- Evaluate and describe the decisions program developer(s) and/or other professional(s) need to make in order to plan the school or program. I would have to say both are very different in teaching approaches and the Montessori would be more culture relevant from the research and my own personal experience. I love the partnership with the parents for Montessori Create a community that encourages discovery, diversity, and achievement; that is huge and diversity especially because we want students to feel secure in an environment they are in with different culture of children and their backgrounds.
- Explain what macroscopic cultural influence likely supported the development and implementation of the program.
each have a similarity to the culture influence students. They each allow room and independence and responsibility.The Framework for 21st Century Learning (2007) states that educators must “Understand, negotiate and balance diverse views and beliefs to reach workable solutions, particularly in multi-cultural environments” (Flexibility and Adaptability, para. 2). Both examine the importance of diversity where they learn different languages and the teachers are expected to learn with them. Which I think is a great approach to incorporate culture and the relevancy to have in our classroom.

The microscopic cultural influences are supported by their ethnics background and the value they have with the reputation they carry and the overall dedication in learning just as much as teaching them.

Decisions! Decisions!
The two schools I decided to go off of are Jeanette and Karen’s schools.
- Evaluate and describe the decisions program developer(s) and/or other professional(s) need to make in order to plan the school or program.
Both of these programs seemed to be very well thought out. They are programs that make the educators have a decision in their students’ education. Both programs have made it so the students can have some independence to show their creative side. They both respect the students’ views.
- Explain what macroscopic cultural influence likely supported the development and implementation of the program.
The macroscopic cultural influence likely supported the development and implementation of the programs was the how the different factors were added into the classroom. This included race, religion, culture, and language. This was almost the same at both schools. The teachers were very supportive of the students and their different backgrounds.

The microscopic cultural influence likely supported the development and implementation of the programs through the expectations. They allowed the students to use the 21st century skills and to show what they are good at.
