- You are under a tight deadline to submit a report to your manager. You are cutting it very close and consider submitting your report without revising your writing in order to meet the deadline. Then you remember what your English professor taught you about the importance of revising your work.
- Identify three (3) areas of evaluation you consider to be most important in communicating effectively and preventing misunderstandings through revision within your writing.

When revising my writing, one area of evaluation that I consider important for preventing misunderstandings is….
Being very detailed. It is very important to enhance any direction or point I’m trying to make when I’m communicating. Detailed on the report what it pertains to and get to the point so there is minimal questions asked about it later.
Another area of evaluation that I consider important is….
Punctuation and spelling are corrected. Allot of times I have the tendency to rush a response and misspell words because of rushing. Taking the rime to revise as many times as possible for correcting items is important to me.
A third area of evaluation that I consider important is….
Make sure you are confident and knowledge when writing the report in case you get pulled on a question or an issue that the report may emerge.
An example of a time when I received a professional communication that had not been revised was when….
An example is when I asked an IT helpdesk assistant for help on my laptop. I had to respond to an email quickly and the screen kicked me back to an encryption screen which I could not get out of. I asked the assistant if he could help resolve this problem after several minutes of trying to figure out the issue. He responded several minutes late and said to me to call the help desk. Several minutes later I had to ask him for the helpdesk number.
The communication in this example failed as a result of….
Failed as the result of not communicating properly. The email chain could’ve been allot shorter and my issue could have been allot less time consuming if he would have effectively send me a complete replay back stating, please contact the help desk at 456-413-xxxx.
The consequences of the failed communication were….
The consequences were I finally answered the email hours later that what it could’ve resulted. Something that does not take much time to do and that much effort, should not have consumed that much time.
