Communication Studies Assignment | homework help websites
This 5-page paper deals with communication between men and/or women (or masculine/feminine people) and has a research component.
Research a topic
Choose a specific gendered communication phenomenon or relational dynamic involving gendered communication that you would like to explore (think about conversational differences, interaction styles, bonding, a miscommunication pattern, leadership styles, etc.). Do research (beyond the class readings) about that subject. What does your research tell you? Let the research inform your thesis…
Formulate a thesis
A thesis should be clearly stated in your introduction (please underline it). Here are a few hypothetical examples, but be sure to develop your own based on your findings:
Men often give advice when women want support, and this creates tension.
The demand-withdraw cycle between couples in relationships is a downward spiral.
Feminine conversations about “the relationship” can be daunting for masculine people.
Differences in assertiveness among males and females are diminishing in the workplace.
Write the paper
1] What is the communication phenomenon?
Describe the brass tacks of what goes on. How does it play out in scenarios you’ve experienced, observed, or researched? What are the observable behaviours and reactions?
2] What do the scholars have to say?
Use at least two credible, scholarly sources to extend the discussion of this topic beyond the class material. Integrate expert opinion, theoretical conclusions, studies, or other relevant findings from journal articles, original source books, published studies, etc. that explain, quantify, illustrate, prove, or disprove the phenomenon.
3] Conclusion
Conclude with your own judgments about the phenomenon, and make insightful suggestions for change or improvement between communicators.
