Case Scenario using Kotter, and Bolman & Deal Assignment | Homework for You
Please read the scenario (When Community Claims Collide) in the text (pp. 142-147). Here you will see an issue that has elicited two distinct views for some community stakeholders.
Please analyze the situation using the four frames from Bolman & Deal. As a minimum, please use two pages, double-spaced, to document what is going on, and what are the conflicting issues, in this scenario. Clearly designate the four frames of Structural, HR, political, and symbolic, by using these as section headings, with the appropriate information under each respective frame.
Please put yourself into the shoes of Sally Torissi. She has a mission and vision of what she would like to accomplish. Using the first four steps of Kotter’s eight steps of change, please recommend a plan of action based upon these four steps (sense of urgency, guiding coalition, develop a vision and strategy, and communicate the vision). Please review Kotter’s 8 stages/steps. I want the actual wording you’d use for the sense of urgency.
I want the actual people, and their identities, who you’d put on the guiding coalition (advisory committee). Oh! Here’s a little hint about creating the guiding coalition-when choosing members, it’s sometimes very wise to bring in a member of the opposition, or anyone who can really prevent things from happening given their position of power. By putting them on the coalition/committee, they often become an advocate for change as they know their concerns are being heard, and they may end up being a supporter. There may be someone like that in this scenario. Also, coalitions are teams, so keep membership at a manageable size-under 12 or so.
I want the actual wording, in about one sentence or so, of the vision (future end-product) for this initiative from Sally’s perspective. Plus, please create a little plan and maybe a time-line for conducting these four steps/phases. Take at least one page for the Kotter steps. It’s OK to use bullets.
The whole assignment will be at least 2 pages long (double-spaced, but bullets are fine). Please let me know if it is going to be more than two pages.
