The aim of this assessment is to develop a student’s capacity to critically review, evaluate and synthesise current evidenced based literature as it relates to bedside clinical handover. Specifically, the student is required to explore the systems and strategies currently implemented in clinical nursing practice to enable timely, accurate, relevant and structured bedside clinical handover. Typically literature reviews comprise five stages, problem identification, literature search, data evaluation, data analysis and presentation. The contribution of bedside clinical handover to the holistic care of patients and/or its impact on patient safety is to be explored in the adult population only.
