Identifying norms within a team is important because “norms can provide vital organizational functions when they clarify the group or organization’s key values and convey a sense of identity.” Baack, D. My department recently went through a conversion of a new program. My team tasked with giving the IT department the necessary information in order to complete our processes within the program. However, IT was interpreting the information incorrectly causing the launch to be delayed. By the end of the year, IT was unable to fix the problems within the demo program. Upper management had increased their pressure for completion of the conversion. After going live, we experienced high volume of issue within the program. As a result, we had frustrated employees and clients. IT had assured that we would be up and running within a few days. Realistically, it ended up being a few weeks before we were able to eliminate most of the issues. Today, we are still working with IT to accommodate our process with the program.
