Board Game Assignment | Homework Help Websites
For the board game that was specifically designed to help complement the website, it is an interactive experience based upon climate change that guides you in playing the game correctly, all while presenting the elements that have positive or negative impact on the environment that led to disaster 500 years later. 450 years ago, this game was discovered and made with purpose, to give the players of the game the idea on how to reduce their carbon footprint. This game also acknowledges how climate change is a double edged sword and that most activities we do are either beneficial or detrimental to the environment, whether its driving a certain type of car, recycling properly and so forth. With elements similar to monopoly, Each player will choose a token ranging from a tree, polar bear, panda bear, mountain, cheetah, and an ocean wave that represents them in the game. For every turn, a player will roll dice to determine how many spaces they move and whatever space they land on, the player will have to pick up either a “physical effect” card or a “mental effect” card. Every card has a descriptive scenario of whichever effect, and the player who chose the card must state a solution to the scenario out loud. If the player chooses to do so, they can buy the space and if another player lands on the bought space, that player will then have to either restate what the original player said or state a better or stronger solution that they come up with. If that player cannot remember what was said or cannot come up with a better solution, then they will receive a “+carbon footprint” card. The goal of the game is to not be the player who reaches 10 “+carbon footprint” cards, whoever does loses and determines the end of the game.
In addition, the website will come into play, as it plays a factor into allowing you to remove any carbon footprint cards you may acquire. In the game, there will be certain spaces that will contain a QR code instead of an affect card. In order to scan the code, at least one player will have to download a separate app on their phone to play an informative video that the code links to. A player who lands on a code will need to watch a short video that will describe the little things you could do everyday to reduce your carbon footprint. The video(s) will also challenge the player to use those ideas in their everyday life. For example, carpooling with a friend to school instead of driving your own car in order to reduce other pollution in the air. There will be a less amount of QR code spaces, whoever lands on the code and watches the full video will receive a “-carbon footprint card”, which will remove one “+carbon footprint card” from the player’s hand. The QR codes will cover various topics surrounding climate change to enlighten the players and help create a positive change.
