- This research article demonstrates how GIS is used to manage forests and includes calculations such as patch size, number of patches and harvested area. The study points out that there is a need for complex systems approach that uses GIS. Class members can also use the paper to help them complete the week five homework.

- In this video tutorial, you will use a spatial solving approach to understand differences in cancer mortality rates by mapping different rates and examine how much they differ. You will also map significant clusters of higher and lower mortality rate ratios so you can focus on the most problematic areas. Finally, you’ll map selected breast cancer risk factors to help explain the clusters. Skills reviewed will aid class member in completing the week five homework, and include exploring maps and performing visual analysis, calculating values, hot spot analysis, interpret findings.
