Water Pollution Alternatives for Southern California
Project 2 Primary and Secondary Research
Proposed Topic: Creating better water pollution alternatives for Southern California to allow the continued use for the community.
To receive full credit for this section, you should include all of the following information in your summary of results or description of your research plan. It is recommended that you submit the information as a numbered list of paragraphs:
Identify your purpose
My purpose for this research is to come up with better water pollution solutions that can be implemented to better attend to the issue of water pollution in southern California communities. Water pollution ranges from storm water, sewage water, and chemical pollution, etc. We need to find great alternatives to use that will allow the continued use of the bodies of water in southern California so that water in the future will not be outsourced or pose a health hazard to the community.
Choose an interview participant or participants
I believe that participants for this research would be mix of not just the community, but individuals that work in water pollution research that can provide valued research. The insight from experts can provide the future of what the solution of water pollution can be. At the same time, the community can iterate what their concerns are about water pollution. This would be more beneficial if there are members within the community that are with organizations like the Coast Guard or the Environmental Protection Agency that have direct relations with water pollution.
Determine the format of the interview or survey
For this research I believe I will conduct a survey of southern California water pollution solutions. In my opinion I can receive more import of how big of an issue water pollution is; as well as determine the any headway that can be gathered about future solutions. Rather than interview one or two people, I can gather insight from multiple personnel to see the core concerns, and then discover what they believe would rectify the issue at hand.
Write down the format of the interview or survey you chose. Why is it the best format for your purposes?
How is the water pollution in Southern California?
In what ways could the sanitization of water pollution be better?
Do you believe that water pollution is an issue in the community?
What are some ways that we may improve water quality?
How would you say is the quality of drinking water?
Has water pollution impacted anything that you enjoyed in your community?
Surveys can be potential good at detecting an issue depending upon the questions. Yet, at the same time I may run into the issue with survey is that people are emotional responding to answers rather than providing knowledge insight. A lot of questions that go into surveys in my experience are “feeling orientated.” If I do conduct the survey that will be an issue may run into.
As a reassurance the environment has a lot of likeness everywhere in terms of geographical locations. If the environment is the same as another the solution that worked there may potentially work in this community. I plan on researching many other ways that they multiple different way that water pollution has been rectified in other communities.
Option 2: Interview
Unfortunately, my other option was going to be to attend a water quality report meeting, but that will not be until August later this year. Indeed, that is unfortunate. However, if I can attempt to reach out to a member of the community either via email, or phone call that can be beneficial. Someone from the EPA organization, Coast Guard, or an expert in the field having experience with water pollution solution will prove to be evidence that can be used later to convince these titans agencies that we have solutions; let’s use them.
