Researching Food Products We Love to Hate
Instructions:
Explore a food or beverage most people love to hate. Some examples include: (1) Spam, (2) Twinkies, (3) Fig Newtons (4) Kraft’s Tang (5) Sandoz’s Ovaltine (6) White Castle Burgers (7) Oreos, (8) Mystic Mints (9) KFC or any other food of your choice.
Research your particular food choice. Look at the product(s) website, online reviews, trade publication articles, food industry materials, specific customer reviews, contact the company help desk etc. Learn as much as you can about your chosen product(s). Be sure to examine at least 3 sources.
As you learn about your product choice write me a brief report on how your chosen product(s) relate to the material in Chapter 10 and Chapter 11 of your readings. Examples include: product item, line, new product strategy, repositioning extension, brand, product modification, the 4Ps, product differentiation and many others. Be sure to identify at least 8 terms/concepts from each chapter and write this up in your review. Explain how your product(s) illustrates each of these concepts in adequate detail.
Please avoid first person narrative in your submission. Be sure to provide a reference page and include in-text citations of the resources being used in APA form. Be sure to use the online APA link provided in D2L for assistance.
Rubric:
The submission will be graded along the following lines
Syntax/Grammar/Spelling/References: SD D A SA (10 points)
There was brevity of script. The document was clearly written and captured the essential points. The submission was absent from grammatical and spelling errors. Proper in-text citations were provided, and the submission included a Works Cited section at the end. Citations adhered to APA guidelines. The author used a minimum of three outside product sources in their response (textbook and one other legitimate source). The submission was between 1-4 pages doubled spaced.
Every 1 error in syntax, grammar, spelling and lack of proper citation results in the deduction of one point for a maximum of 4 points lost.
Content: SD D A SA (25 points)
Clear application of each of the chosen concepts as they relate to the product were provided. The submission made reference to concepts and terminology of both chapters. A total of 16 concepts were (8 from each chapter) correctly identified and explained correctly.
