Age of Discovery
For the most part, the earth has been explored. There are few areas where human foot has not trod or Google Earth has not seen! But what about outer space? Space exploration has become very controversial over the last few years. Many feel we have “gotten everything there is to get” from space exploration. Critics contend that with our rising debt, hunger, war on terror, and environmental issues that we should abandon space exploration altogether and use our funds for more important issues. NASA’s budget has been slashed. Only private companies now launch satellites and if we want to send a human into space we have to pay the Russians to do it. This week’s forum asks what is your opinion about 21st-century space exploration–worth it or too expensive? Make sure you state your stance and then defend it with explanations and examples.
