Video Games and Children with Autism
This paper is for my information literacy class. Below you will find (a) my previous outline submitted and (b) the instructions from the professor. Please note that the two sources at the bottom of my outline must be included in the paper. (a) Topic and research questions
1. I would like to explore the effects of playing video games has on children who are on the autism spectrum. I plan to research how different types of video games (games with violence, sports games, fantasy games, etc.) impact the development of both boys and girls of various ages that are autistic. I also plan to research whether video games are/can be more addictive for children with autism and how that impacts the potential for future addictions.
2. Topic: How video games affect children with autism
3. Research question: Is playing video games detrimental to or beneficial for children with autism?
a. How does playing video games affect the way the brain functions in children with autism? Is it negative, positive, both, or neither?
b. Do video games developmentally delay/stall growth in autistic children?
c. Does gaming have the same effects on autistic boys as it does autistic girls?
d. What makes video games addictive?
e. Are autistic children more likely to form a video game addiction than children who are not autistic?

(b) ITE119 Project Deliverable B For this deliverable you will write a short (500+ word) research paper using your five quality sources. The paper must be in proper MLA format with Works Cited, and use at least five (5) cited sources. Refer to the example below for a general idea of how the paper should look.
Requirements
Write a 500+ word (not including works cited, not including quotes) research paper based on your research question and five supporting focused questions. Remember: Use only 12pt Times New Roman font, double-spaced. Because this is a short paper, you may not get to every question, but you should cite five different sources. You should have, at the bare minimum, five in-text citations. Your last name and page number should be in each page header and within the 1″ margin. Your name, instructor name (Mr. Oliver), class (ITE119), and the date should appear on the first page of your paper, right above the title. If you use section headings, you can simply write them in regular body text, flush left on the page, with an extra line above them. (See example) When you write your in-text citations, highlight them in yellow. (You won’t have to do this for other research papers, it just makes it easier for me to grade and also helps remind folks to cite! On a separate last page, add your Works Cited. Remember: Use a 1/2″ hanging indent for each work Each entry should be in correct MLA format for the appropriate type of work (journal article, book, web site, etc.) Example The following screenshots show an example first page and final Works Cited page in MLA format. Example of the first page, described in requirements. Example of Works Cited page, described in requirements. What to hand in Upload your single Word .docx file to the Project – Deliverable B upload area, below. How you will be graded The following point breakdown will be used to grade this assignment. Partial points may be awarded/deducted for partially correct requirements. Some requirements are so basic/essential they only count off if missed.
