White Privilege in Our Culture Interesting
The first step in completing this project is to choose a clear concept or practical issue discussed throughout the course. For instance, you may find the idea of the digital divide and its effect on intercultural communication or the issue of white privilege in our culture interesting. Choose something that you care about or that you find useful in some way that connects to intercultural communication and what we have learned in this course!
Second, you should conduct research about this concept/issue so that you are able explain it in your paper. This portion will entail you going beyond our class discussions and searching the available literature on the concept/issue as well as synthesizing the main findings that are relevant to this concept/issue.
Third, you should write and submit the actual paper. The paper should be 5-6pages(double-spaced, excluding cover page and references), and demonstrate your ability to explain and apply a course concept to your everyday life. You should focus on the usefulness of this concept/issue in your everyday life and the broader implications this concept has for our society. This is the key aspect about the paper in which you should make an argument of your own and really demonstrate you have thought about how this concept expands beyond the class.
A successful course paper will include an explanation of the concept/issue chosen, with adequate and sufficient review of literature on the concept/issue, and a thoughtful, in-depth reflection of how you can relate to this concept/issue and how you see this concept play out in our society. You must incorporate at least eight sources, both scholarly and non-scholarly (e.g. books, peer reviewed journal articles, dissertations, newspaper articles, company websites, and online discussion forums) pertinent to your topic, beyond class material.
The paper should contain an introduction with a clear thesis statement, a body, a relevant conclusion, and logically structured paragraphs. Language should be clear and concise, free of grammatical and spelling errors. All material should be formatted according to the APA manual, 7thedition. Any information taken from a source must be documented appropriately both in the body of the paper and in the references.
