Negotiation Self-Assessment
AS Description:
This paper will describe your own pie-slicing and pie-expanding strategies. In this Unit, you were introduced to distributive bargaining and integrative bargaining, two common approaches to negotiations. To complete this assignment, you will analyze your own negotiations as whether they fit within the distributive or integrative bargaining approaches. In your paper, be sure to answer the following questions.
1. What is the distributive bargaining approach to negotiation? What negotiations have you engaged in that fit within the distributive bargaining approach? Giving at least one example of a negotiation where you’ve used this approach, are you comfortable with your own abilities to negotiate using this approach?
2. What is the integrative bargaining approach to negotiation? What negotiations have you engaged in that fit within the integrative bargaining approach? Giving at least one example of a negotiation where you’ve used this approach, are you comfortable with your own abilities to negotiate using this approach?
3. Which of these approaches is easier? Which were you better at? What concerns do you have about either or both of these approaches?
