It has become apparent that there is a traditional respect in criminology towards class, without being equally opportunistic for discussion of race/ethnicity and gender. As a result, the reality of crime in the realm of race/ethnicity and gender are often overshadowed and misunderstood. How different would our system of justice be if we were structurally and culturally forced to provide the same level of mitigating justifications for racial/ethnic and gendered minorities as we do in the areas of class?
