Cyberbullying Experience
While many schools have a zero tolerance policy regarding bullying behavior, children nevertheless bully other children on the playground, in the bathroom, on the bus, online, and anywhere else that they can get away with it. As you prepare to answer the questions that follow view the video at the following youtube link on the story of cyberbullying:
1. Describe and explain what cyberbullying is. What has been your personal experience? How prevalent is it in schools today? Does social media play a part and should controls be put in place to prevent cyberbullying. Find some statistics on the local and national level on cyberbullying.
2. In the story you viewed, who is to blame for what happened. Should the students involved be convicted of a criminal offense and sent to jail? Do the parents on both sides share any responsibility for what happened? What about the school? Do you think anything could have been done in this case to have prevented such a tragedy?
3. What are some strategies for dealing with and reducing bullying behavior. What does the literature say about preventing bullying behavior.
Conduct your own research from academic sources and write a one to two page paper on this topic. Include your response to the questions that were asked. Cite three sources in APA style at the end of your report.
