Please construct a two-page research outline (see the sample outline) on one subject of your choice. Say you want to do a research on “racial tensions since 2017 in the United States” and you want to find out if there were any connections between racial violence against Asian Americans (in 2017, 2018, 2019 and the first half of 2020) and Donald Trump in the White House. How are you going to conduct this research? What theories or theoretical approaches are you going to use to guide your research? What data are you going to collect? How are you going to interpret the data? How to connect what you have observed or collected as data with Donald Trump in the White House? Are these connections credible and sound? How do we know if these connections or associations are credible or sound? One way to look into is the number of racial violence cases since 2016 compared with the number under President Obama, Bush, and Clinton? Who are the gunmen in the last four years? Who are the victims? What did the gunmen try to accomplish? What groups are the targets of the gunmen? Are these gunmen identifying with Bush, Obama, Clinton, and Trump? What rhetoric of Presidents Obama, Bush, and Clinton could have encouraged violence? What rhetoric of Donald Trump discourages or encourages violence against a particular group or groups?
