Nursing Home Negligence
July 3rd, 2020
Please write a 1-page summary answering the following questions.
1. For non-ambulatory nursing home residents, are pressure ulcers completely avoidable? With proper care, should pressure ulcers never occur, such that their occurrence automatically proves negligence on the part of the caregivers?
2. Are resident falls in nursing homes avoidable or inevitable? What if anything, does a resident fall prove about a nursing home’s quality of care or its negligence? Do you agree with the statement that “accepting a certain risk of falls is preferable to continuing the practice of continuously physically and/or chemically restraining large numbers of residents”?
